Yerevan International Book Festival

The central theme of the 9th Yerevan International Book Festival is language as a vehicle of humanity’s collective memory and cultural continuity.

The festival program will focus on multilingual literature, literary translation, the preservation of endangered languages, the role of the mother tongue, and the transformation of language in today’s digital world through discussions, readings, and cultural dialogues.

Special attention will also be given to the present and future of the Armenian language, a language with centuries of rich literary tradition.

The theme reflects the idea that languages do not create borders; they build bridges.

The 9th Yerevan International Book Festival will take place on September 4, 5, and 6.

The Yerevan International Book Festival is Armenia’s leading literary event.

The Festival has been held annually since 2017.

The festival lasts three days and attracts 40,000 visitors. It records the sale of 18,000 books and receives 500 submissions to its literary competitions. Festival events bring together 250 writers, literary professionals, and international guests from 15 countries. More than 50 publishing houses participate in the book fair. The festival also implements an international publishing program dedicated to the translation and publication of works by five Armenian authors.

Its main components include:

- Armenia’s largest book fair and exhibition, featuring mandatory discounts on books.
- A diverse cultural program, including book presentations, exclusive meetings with Armenian and international authors, panel discussions, masterclasses, theatrical performances, stand-up shows, and musical events.
- The Fellowship Program — an international publishing cooperation platform designed to foster new partnerships, generate innovative ideas, strengthen literary networks, and promote the international dissemination of Armenian literature.
- The Literary Competition for citizens of the Republic of Armenia in four categories: Poetry, Prose, Drama, and Children’s & Young Adult Literature.
- The Saroyan Short Story Competition, open to citizens of all countries worldwide.
- The Western Armenian Poetry Competition, open to citizens of all countries worldwide.

Since 2025, the Festival has expanded beyond the capital, extending its reach to Armenia’s regions. It has already been hosted in Gyumri and Kapan, bringing new cultural vitality and creating meaningful platforms for engagement with local communities.
